Get to know Xcalak

Xcalak stands out as one of the finest untouched beaches in the Mexican Caribbean, conveniently located less than an hour away from Mahahual. Snorkeling and diving are must-do activities here, as these pristine waters are part of the Mesoamerican Reef, the second-largest coral reef system globally, only trailing behind Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

In addition to exploring its turquoise waters, visitors can venture to Bird Island, a Protected Natural Area that restricts daily access to just six individuals. This sanctuary is home to various bird species, including ospreys, herons, Ruddy ducks, parrots, owls, thrashers, and mockingbirds.

Boat tours are also available along the coastline, offering glimpses of La Aguada, a region characterized by intricate mangrove mazes. For those who wish to extend their stay, rustic beachfront cabins provide cozy accommodations overlooking the Caribbean Sea, ensuring a memorable experience in Xcalak.
