Desert, sea, mountains and history combine the wonderful natural and historical environment of Guaymas, Sonora, one of Mexican Pacific main ports that, due to its privileged location, ensures a unique trip in which you can enjoy a little thing of everything.

 

Known as “La Perla del Mar de Cortés” (Sea of Cortés’ Pearl), this city still keeps its old days legacy in some buildings and streets, since it was Guaymas, Seris and Yaquis ethnicities’ territory. Later it was Jesuit missions of San José de Guaymas cradle, established by the missionaries Eusebio Kino and José María Salvatierra.

 

Enjoy this fishing city, whose dry to warm climate allows you to carry out endless cultural, aquatic, sporting and recreational activities in an impressive environment.

 

As you walk, take a break for enjoying beautiful dusks reflected in the Plaza 13 de Julio, admire the 19th-century-founded beautiful Moorish kiosk.

 

The Municipal Market awaits you for delighting your palate with regional “antojitos” (little cravings; all of them, Mexican food) and making some handicrafts purchases such as ironwood, baskets and shells-and-snail arrangements, as well as clothing and footwear.

 

There’s lots to do in Guaymas: at sunset, walk along the boardwalk; visit the dolphinarium, go to its beaches and practice golf, sport fishing, horseback riding, cycling, diving and kayaking.

 

It’s possible to get to Guaymas from Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregón cities in one hour 40 minutes by car.
