It was founded in 1531 and its name comes from the Nahuatl word Colhuacan, which means Place of those who worship the God Coltzin. 

 

The beauty of Culiacán will surprise you, because in its center, the Humaya and Tamazula rivers converge and combine into the Culiacán River, which runs throughout the city.
