Hidalgo may seem like a small state, however its history and tradition are immense. Its mining heritage and colorful towns offer us the image of a destination that resembles a fairy tale.

Its natural territories between mountains have made it a popular destination for adventure tourism, where visitors can practice climbing, hiking, fishing and mountain biking.

If you prefer something more relaxed, you can visit the Valle del Mezquital area, which has several spas and water parks with thermal waters, perfect to enjoy with the family.

Delve into the region’s past and discover its legendary archaeological remains such as Tula, Pahñú, Huapalcalco and Xihuingo. Xihuingo is considered the oldest archaeological site in the state.

Visit its traditional Pueblos Mágicos and fall in love with its landscapes, customs and traditions such as Zimapán with its incredible dam and the Grutas de Xájhá. In Tecozautla you will be amazed by the Geyser and you will relax in its hot springs. Also take the time to admire the historic buildings of Huichapan. In Mineral del Chico you will be filled with adrenaline, since it is considered the mecca of adventure tourism. Last but not least, in Real del Monte you will learn about its mining past and finally admire the famous Prismas Basálticos in Huasca de Ocampo.

The typical food of Hidalgo includes barbecue, the traditional pastes (pastries), molotes (a traditional patty) and pulque (a fermented drink).

Due to its location and proximity to the center of the country, it is an ideal destination for a weekend getaway.
