Get to know Ciudad Obregón

If we see a Sonora map and we point to the south we will find Ciudad Obregón, the heart of the Cajeme municipality and the second most inhabited city in the state. It is known for its agricultural industry and its business tourism, but also for its university campuses that add a cultural joyful atmosphere to the city. This is the entrance door to the Yaqui valley, a place in which the indigenous inhabitants settled, from the Sierra Madre to the Cortes sea.

 

Ciudad Obregón is the necessary spot to get to Guaymas, Navojoa and the Magical Town of the Álamos. But before you continue with your journey, set aside a couple of nights to know the Plaza Principal and its beautiful gardens or its monuments like the Alvaro Obregon statue or its monumental solar watch.

 

Don't forget to visit its museums like the one dedicated to the Revolution. It is inside an old house that was inhabited by the son of the general Alvaro Obregon. You can dress in period costume to walk through its halls.

 

If you are traveling with children it is a good option to visit the Cajeme Planetary or the Ostimuri Park where you will find a zoo and an amusement park.

 

Enjoying nature is also possible since Ciudad Obregón is surrounded by the Náinari lagoon. You can row in its waters while you watch the birds fly in the metropoli.
