Ciudad Valles

Get to know Ciudad Valles

One of the most beautiful zones in the Mexican republic is without a doubt, the Huasteca Potosina, with its beautiful landscapes and its jungles full of waterfalls, cenotes and incredible caves and caverns ready for you to explore them. That is why it is a must to visit Ciudad Valles in San Luis Potosí. This is the second most important city in the state and, in addition, it it's quite close to Xilitla, The Sótano de las Golondrinas and the Tamul waterfall.

You will lose yourself in its streets of its Historical Center that mixes tradition and modernity. The Santiago Apostol parish is the best example of these. This is the oldest building at Ciudad Valles, built in the XVI century, but just a couple of streets further you will find the Cathedral with an avant-garden architecture.

One more attraction that you have to visit is the Hidalgo Garden and its impressive view to the Valles river. Quite close from here, the Luis Donaldo Colosio park is located, here you can find an embankment with trajineras.

Finally, go and look around the Municipal Market. Here you could taste one of the most emblematic dishes in the region. There are plenty of choices: enchiladas huastecas, caldo loco, bocoles de nata o el zacahuil, which is considered the biggest tamale in the world.
