Located atop a mountain with spectacular views, Cerro Cuchumá is an area of great historical and spiritual significance that holds a rich ancestral history. This sacred place was a refuge for the ancient Kumiai community and served as a ceremonial center where ancestors performed sacred rituals with rattles and chants in honor of their gods.

To explore this fascinating site, it is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and footwear before embarking on the hike to the summit. The ascent to the top covers 12 kilometers of dirt trail, with an estimated time of three to four hours to reach the summit. Along the way, you can enjoy waterfalls and caves, as well as an ecosystem characterized by submontane chaparral with gallery forests including oaks, alders, and sycamores. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to observe a variety of wildlife in the nearby canyons.

Upon reaching the summit, you will discover that Cerro Cuchumá remains a relevant site for the Kumiai community, used as a refuge, hunting ground, dwelling, and ceremonial center. Here, you can witness ceremonies that are still performed and connect with the spirituality of the place, as the hill holds deep symbolic meaning for the local community.

Furthermore, an exciting horseback ride to the hill is organized each year by Rancho La Puerta, offering a unique experience for visitors. Cerro Cuchumá is located on the outskirts of the city of Tecate, providing a special opportunity to explore the cultural and natural richness of this region.
